Objectives: Sport practitioners are required to prepare athletes for competition in hot and humid environments in the effort to preserve health during severe heat stress. For this reason special attention towards developing proactive approaches in the effort to negate symptoms of heat illness and mitigate decrements in performance is becoming a prevalent practice. As such these techniques and approaches warrant further examination in the effort to provide evidence based recommendations for integrated support staff and athletes.
